Подверждаю - это вещь. Поставил полгода назад и забыл о времени.
Теперь еще хочу нувелевский сервер по линуксовскому синхронизировать - в
журнале LAN недавно была статья, как это сделать.
Но не очень понял насчет /etc/rc.d/rc.local, крон и ntpdate - вроде при
установке устанавливаются стартапные скрипты в /etc/rc.d.init.d/. Потом
указываешь запуск в ntsysv и забываешь.
Руками время нужно устанавливать только если при запуске время в cmos сильно
ушло.
Еще хорошо время в cmos по гринвичу выставить - тогда вроде не должно быть
проблем с летним временем.
Правда, проходило сообщение о дырке в xntpd - вроде на RedHat есть update,
но я еще не ставил.
