:( Я имел в виду запись с портом в файле /etc/services - ее после установки
не оказалось, пришлось добавить вручную.

Да, запускался от пользователя interbase

А вот теперь я не понял.
Под запуском я имею в виду команду
/opt/interbase/bin/ibmgr -forever -user sysdba -password masterkey start
или ее же, оформленную в виде /etc/rc.d/init.d-скрипта.
Именно после нее я получил сообщение о том, что запусть сервер невозможно, а
через ps получал список запущенных процессов.
Или, может быть, имеется в виду, что запуск производится через (x)inetd?
Так у меня там автоматически IB не прописан, а сам я этого пока не пытался
делать.
