Попробуйте поменять разрешение экрана в DE: увеличить, если
возможно, / уменьшить. Вероятно при уменьшении разрешения
время до появления "спецэффектов" увеличится.
Думаю, что надо проверить целостность видепамяти - память,
что на видеокарте - вот, только не знаю чем это делается.

Вроде как есть nv и nvidia, я так понимаю что Вам нужны
вторые. Правда даже если используются не те, упомянутых
эффектов вроде как не доджно проявляться.
