Не нужен пароль root. Главное, чтобы помнил пароль Администратора к WinXP.
Грузишься с загрузочного диска WinXP, входишь в консоль восстановления,
логинишься, а дальше - как уже ранее говорили fixmbr. А разделы от Alt'a
Partition Magic'ом удаляешь из-под WinXP.
