[altlinux-announce-en] Distribution Release: ALT Workstation K 10.3

Greetings!

Glad to present to you the update of the operating system ALT 
Workstation K 10.3. The assembly is prepared for the x86_64 architecture 
on Platform 10 (p10 Aronia branch). The operating system is included in 
the Unified Register of Russian programs and databases. The distribution 
appeals to a wide circle of users to work in the office and at home. The 
operating system works efficiently in the Active Directory domain.

The new version of the distribution still able to boot from the ALT 
Workstation K disk in LiveCD mode. In this mode file processing is 
available which is safe for the main system on the computer. Live mode 
is not intended for system installation.

Innovations

A weather forecast widget based on Yandex data has been added.

Accelerated work in photo and video editors, with 3D graphics, as well 
as improved quality of the gaming experience is possible thanks to 
support for launching applications on a discrete NVIDIA graphics card 
(in the main menu of the system through the context menu of the 
application).

The desktop design is complemented by the ability to select a dark theme 
when you first log in.

During installation, a swap file is automatically created on the root 
partition.


New application versions

The set of KDE applications and libraries has been updated: Applications 
23.08 (https://kde.org/announcements/gear/23.08.0/), Frameworks 5.113 
(https://kde.org/announcements/frameworks/5/5.113.0/). Support for the 
Group Policy applying is implemented with the Samba 4.19 server 
(https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-announce/2023/000647.html) and 
the gpupdate 0.9.13.8 mechanism for applying Group Policy. The new Wine 
9.0 includes driver integration to support Wayland. The office suite is 
represented by LibreOffice version 7.6.

The new version of the distribution kit is based on the stable branch of 
the Platform 10 repository and does not involve incompatible changes 
when moving to 10.3.
