Ну да, понятно. Пользователь news действительно имеется в системе с
самого начала, домашний каталог у него /var/spool/news, но такого
каталога в системе по умолчанию не существует.
Наличие такого пользователя в системе "по умолчанию" - по видимому,
является простым анахронизмом. Мало кто держит нынче news-сервер на
компьютере...
