Переходить может кто угодно, куда угодно.
openvz до сих пор работает, и для своих целей пока лучшая (IMHO).
lxc ещё не дорос до openvz.
kvm не нужен, когда хватает openvz(япять же IMHO). Когда надо
запустить пару сервисов, нет смысла делать полную виртуализацию (даже
паравиртуализацию)
Кроме того, на ядре openvz вполне себе запускается kvm. Так что у меня
линуксовые сервера отправляются в openvz, виндовые в kvm.
