По п.2 согласен лишь частично :)
IMHO, это не проблема samba вообще, рыть нужно недра реестра клиентской
машины. Было такое очень давно, рецепт утерян, но что нужно мучать
клиентскую ОС - 100%.
Если не изменяет склероз, то "Описание сервера2" и надо искать в реестре
болеющей системы.
