В общем, в теории должно выключаться посредством
suppress_capabilities: COMPRESS=DEFLATE

Почтовый клиент - Thunderbird с вероятностью 99%. Собственно, из поддерживающих
IMAP COMPRESS, замечен ещё только такой, который подписывается
ID ("name" "iPad Mail" "version" "8J3" "os" "iOS" "os-version" "4.3.3 (8J3)")
У этого проблем, вроде бы, нет.
Ситуация с Thunderbird осложняется тем, что одни и те же версии где-то
работают, где-то нет. Там, где не работает, проблема решается отключением
IMAP COMPRESS в Thunderbird: mail.server.default.use_compress_deflate false

PS: надеюсь, наследил по рассылкам достаточно для всяких гуглей, а то
ни одного упоминания проблемы не нашёл. Хотя в info-cyrus@ один человек
подтвердил проблему (туда моё письмо Bron Gondwana скопировал).
