Отвечаю сам себе - потом понадобится опять.

Чтобы работало автомонтирование USB flash
нужно в каталог /etc/hal/fdi/policy положить (или сделать симлинк)
файл /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/45-mount-subfs.fdi.
