Ну так чего, вы предлагаете называть операционной системой только ядро и
узкий круг приближённых? Bash - это OS? Modprobe - это OS? А glibc - это OS?
В общем, я на стороне Дениса. GNU/Linux, как и MacOS - это типичный
случай расширенного понимания операционной системы, когда не только ядро
и системные утилиты, а и прикладной софт какой-то. Я не видел ни одного
человека, работающего на операционной системе OpenDarwin. И на
операционной системе HURD. Все пользуются прикладным софтом, тем более в
иных случаях он не такой уж прикладной.
