Думаю ответ -- разрядность MAC-адреса. То есть не более чем 2^48 :) На
практике как только переполнится таблица MAC-адресов у коммутатора --
начнется сумасшедший дом. Поэтому фактические ограничение именно таблица
MAC-адресов у коммутатора. На ширпотребном железе речь идет о единицах
тысяч, насколько я понимаю.
При этом, разумеется, никто не обещает что скорость в такой сети не
окажется сравнимой с модемом на 2400 :)
