Дистрибутив Compact 3.0 лично мне пригодился в следующих случаях:
1) Показывать, чего нового в ALTLinux. У нас многие интересуются
Линуксом, в том числе Ubuntu, Knoppix и др. Так что
дистрибутив на 9Gb, к тому же и LiveDVD, оказался весьма
востребованным.
2) Поставить Линукс на ноутбук Asus A7J. Мастер 2.4 туда встал
с большим скрипом, и только после того, как я загрузил
LiveDVD и сравнил lsmod =). Compact 3.0 встал легко и сразу.
Конечно, в нём присутствуют не все свежие драйвера, но это
поправимо.

А у меня - напротив: везде Мастер 2.4, и недостающее я собираю
