Угу. Уже разобрался. Я потихоньку переезжаю свою (development) систему с
RH-based на ALT и иногда вылазит совершенно странное поведение.
Так, недели две назад перевёл mysql с RH на ALT-овский пакет, но не
пользовался. Вчера приспичило -- а он не стартует. Полез разбираться --
фиг вам.
Вылечилось путём снесения нафиг и переустановки.
Всё страньше и страньше... :)
