Ну, в 21.5, похоже, это придавили, предложив взамен вот это:
--with-default-eol-detection
Turns on by default auto-detection of end-of-line type
when reading a file. Applies to those platforms where
auto-detection is off by default (non-Mule Unix). Has
no effect otherwise.
Стадо быть, 21.4 останется как есть, а вот собрать 21.5, cкажем,
как xemacs-beta, дабы не свозил основной, видимо, стоит.
Может, возметесь ?
