это я исправил (пересобрал с патчем) одно но...
забыл --target i586, а система - Athlon.
Насчет ext3 - уверенность в том, что проблема

И точно! На этом разделе квоты. Правда еще на софт-рейде, так
что определить где собака порылась, трудно. Можно
личкой патчи про dquot_release?
