у меня также валятся (точнее валились) иксы при попытке запуска icewm,
но я заметил, что если сначала сделать xinit (а не startx) ,а вот уже
оттуда starticewm, то все работает.. :-)... , но разбираться было
недосуг - и теперь использую WM..
