Про SHAPE - это для меня новость. С учётом того, для чего оно Sven'у
нужно - форменный эгоизм со стороны последнего.
А если говорить о GNOME, то дополнительные кнопки стоит задействовать
прямо из гномьего окна с сочетаниями клавиш. К сожалению, не все команды
в том окне работают именно так, как хочется. В частности, управление
плеером работает только если это Rhythmbox, похоже.

Он не дружественный к пользователю :) У него нет графической настройки в
чём-либо кроме KDE. Зато он точно и ненавязчиво выполняет свою основную
задачу.
