Таки не удалось запустить Альтлинукс. Удалось, скопировав их ядро и
initrd в /boot partition на /dev/hda1, загрузиться с несколкими
сообщениями про невозможность загрузить драйверы, в установленную раньше
на пробу Fedora Core. При этом все аппликации, которые я пробовал,
работали нормально.
Видимо, для запуска Альтлинукса надо будет ковыряться и
перекомпилировать ядро, разбираясь с ихними патчами.
Однако похоже что это имеет большой смысл, - вместо всяких chrooted
запускать сервера в отдельных виртуальных машинах, да с очень маленькими
накладными расходами.
