Извините за оффтопик, но для молодых расскажу:
Microsoft создала блестящую систему: Xenix-286
с 1991 года у меня под этой хреновиной на 286-й с 40Gb винтом
и 4Mb RAM стояла (говорят и сегодня стоит) система автоматического
сбора данных Ez-компонеты электростатического поля Земли. Сама
собирала, сама анализировала, сама рассылала по E-mail.
На такой машине + мультиплексор на 4 порта у меня в 1992-м году работал
Internet-узел
c UUCP и NEWS. В Xenix-286 с TCP/IP было никак.
Xenix-286 с потрохами выкупила SCO - появилась Xenix-386 - полноценная
операционка с TCP/IP, X-Window,...
Парллельно была доступна куча Unix-ов, из которых ISC (Interactive) был
самым доступным - c TCP, X Window, и вся вся вся. В ISC даже куча графических DOS-овский игрушек шла сразу без переделок.
Тут же была BSDi, уже FreeBSD. Windows95 ещё и на горизонте не было.
Во всех этих системах уже давно было то, что нам сегодня так нравится. А на столы юзеров взгромоздилось это чудо от Microsoft по простой причине - крутые юниксоиды забыли о простых юзерах. В результате простые юзеры
забыли о крутых юниксоидах.
Вот такая грустная история.
