Там что, udevd не используется при загрузке ядра ?

Это если хоть что-то загрузилось. Или надо было конкретно дописать,
что достаточно было всего лишь наличия этого HDD в компьютере
(без каких-либо записей в fstab), чтобы загрузка не прошла ? ;-)
Вариант был с USB-корзинкой, но у меня не было под рукой.
