Откуда мне знать будет его видно или нет? И мы сейчас говорим о Linux, а я
пробую говорить о системах, куда портирован rpm и где он может
использоваться. И не обязательно в той, другой системе %__install будет
ссылаться на /usr/bin/install.

В общем случае мы подразумеваем Linux, а если у нас AIX (а ведь чуть было не
приобрели), Solaris, etc?

:-) :-) Не для всех задач мы можем использовать ALT Linux. И если идёт
установка какой-либо ERP, то мы обязаны использовать ту ОС, которая
сертифицирована производителем, для того, чтобы иметь поддержку.
