Ядра меняю тогда, когда их за собой тянет что-то нужное из оборудования (новые
драйвера видяхи, и т.д.).
с 2.6.17 не игрался.
Жду у моря погоды.
Проблемы возникли именно на 16 (если не изменяет память --
первым "пострадавшим" оказался apt-conf-sisyphus-2.1-alt1.src.rpm).

сейчас поменял диск на домашней машинке -- сменил XFS на ext3 -- посмотрю, как
оно будет... (там таких проблем не было, но их и не хочется получить.
Проблемы -- на рабочей.) В своё время выбирал XFS именно как фс,
оптимизированную под мультимедиа-контент и с хорошими вкусностями. Рейзер
просто не нужен (не моя специфика). А вот обсуждения на тему "что лучше --
получить после сбоя файлы, забитые нулями или забитые мусором" несколько
напрягали, поскольку было такое, что получал забитый нулями kdmrc (хотя
сознательно на запись его не открывал -- его что, KDE постоянно держит
открытым на запись?). Запретил запись в него, проблем, вроде нет. fstab
раньше бывал обнулён. Пару раз.

Ну, подождём немного...
А что там с ядрами? Когда будет переход на 2.6.17 или 2.6.18?
