Ищите на search.altlinux.ru письма raorn@, mouse@, ulfr@,
tibor@ по словам кросс/cross и около.

Боюсь, лучше подбирать дистрибутив под задачу. Перенос даже
части на другую архитектуру -- это всё-таки немаленький труд,
подумайте, стоит ли оно того при наличии уже поддерживающих
MIPS дистрибутивов, в т.ч. ориентированных на встраиваемые
системы. Могу рекомендовать distrowatch.com и linuxdevices.com.
Ну и распишите себе в четыре квадрата плюсы/минусы сейчас/потом
тех вариантов, которые рассматривали, и подумайте над картинкой.
