Обращаю внимание на то, что использование sudo теперь может привести
к изменению прав на ~/.zsh_history:

$ l ~/.zsh_history
-rw-------  1 at at 707134 Jul 21 15:01 /home/at/.zsh_history
$ sudo $SHELL
# :
# ^D
$ l ~/.zsh_history
-rw-------  1 root root 702531 Jul 21 15:01 /home/at/.zsh_history
$

        Doc/Zsh/options.yo:  Added a new option, HIST_SAVE_BY_COPY, and
        made it enabled by default.  This changes the rewriting of the
        history file to be done via copy and rename rather than truncate
        and write-in-place.

То есть можно добавить в ~/.zshrc "unsetopt HIST_SAVE_BY_COPY".
