А вот в r/o компрессия очень даже не помешает ИМХО. Причём именно в таком r/o
который изредка надобы ненадолго сделать r/w, а потом опять вернуть в r/o
(если в r/w очень редко переводится или вобще не пореводится, то здесь и
squashfs хватит).
