Насколько помню, эти два my.cnf чем-то различались -- по крайней
мере между 2.0 и 2.2 было изменение, приводившее к существованию
двух (немного раных) my.cnf -- в /etc и чруте.
2 mouse: если будешь это чинить -- попинай меня, попробую найти
те архивы (помнится, изменение делал ldv).
