Результаты анализа:
При апгрейде пакет nvidia_glx остался версии 1.0.4496, ручная установка пакета
из дистрибутива обновила его до версии 60_с_чем-то. А Х-сы используют версию
1.0.5.5336. Вытянул с Сизифа ее и все заработало как часы.
Если у кого-нибудь повторяется, то это баг.
