Об этом и речь в обсуждаемом bug report: механизм вызова авторизационных
модулей в Squid слишком урезает права, под которыми эти модули
исполняются.

Нет. CIFS -- это название стека протоколов, реализуемых Samba. Ранее (до
1996 года) часть этого стека называлась SMB.
