Да, именно так. Но он при сборке форирует каталог с файлами, который можно
переименовать после первой сборки, потом опять ./configure && make и
получается 2 каталого: один с CS, другой с SS... Могу выслать спек (но он не
готов на 100% - сорри, времени нет...) и маленткий firebird-1.5-alt.patch.

Не так уж и долго - минут 30-40 на Athlon 1000
