Ctrl-L, Del. Я решил, что дешевле выставить домашней страницей
пустой URI и давать ее новым закладкам...

Там хитрее и, по раздумию, удобнее: оно пытается сообразить
"дерево" ответвлений и при последовательном открытии выставлять
их не в реверсном порядке, а в прямом.
Проверка -- открыть две закладки, потом еще две по ссылкам с
крайней левой. Внимательно отследить ход событий.
Непривычно, но вообще-то именно так мне и хотелось раньше.
PS: никто не подскажет, как-то темы можно в galeon2 менять, кроме
модификации защитой в бинарник? Или те, что на сайте, только для
1.x? :)
