С slmdm таже проблема. Т.к. в нем тоже есть объектные модули 
собранные egcs-2.91.66.
Загрузить можно только 
insmod -f slmdm.o 
insmod -f slamrmo.o

А как выставить IRQ и IO не знаю.

Наверно это случилось после установки modutils-2.4.22.
