Subj. Ядро 2.4.20-alt0.8, XFree86-4.2.1.1-alt1
В ядре достаточно большое количество изменений, смотрите в changelog. Из
значительных:
Добавлены драйвера для нек-х софтмодемов, обновлены драйвера для nVidia,
добавлен драйвер для контроллеров HPT (с их сайта) и многое другое.
Важное замечание: это ядро _не_работает_ на мат. платах Intel SCB2 из-за
проблем с BIOS'ом. Так что на эту плату ставить его бесполезно.
По XFree86:
DRI-код откачен обратно на стандартный для 4.2.1 код (это связано со
стабильностью), посему поддержка в 3D плат Radeon 8500 и выше отсутствует.
Также одновременно обновлены разные ядерные утилиты (например iptables,
alsa и другие).
Настоятельно некомендуется обновляться целиком (по крайней мере ядро +
XFree86 + необходимые утилиты) иначе могут возникать проблемы.
По идее ядро достаточно стабильно, но все-таки хотелось бы получить
информацию о его тестировании - посему просьбы всем протестировать и
написать о результатах.
