Попробовал. Тот же эффект. Хотя xfontsel стало лучше ---
до удаления val-ttf он при выборе arial вообще переставал обновлять
область с образцом шрифта.
Причем не работают не только monotype-шрифты, но и URW,
например URW Bookman L и все из этой серии. В ООо всё отлично.
Я даже не смог найти шрифт, который работает :)
