Ещё замечу, что базовая серверная часть - проще десктопной.
Можно поподробнее о проблемах серверной части?
Только с конкретикой...
Я сам не родился в Linux, до него были PICK, VAX/VMS,
OS/400, и BSD.
Не скажу, что не было "культурного шока".
