Скрытая - это значит на роутере в настройках включено что-то типа "Hide
Access Point" (на моём ASUS это называется так). Это блокирует
публикацию ESSID.

Тогда скорее всего точка доступа открыта
Запусти пожалуйста в терминале sudo iwlist ath0 scan и пришли то, что
относится к твоей точке доступа (ну или весь список, но напиши
пожалуйста как называется твоя). Может у меня какие идеи появятся.
Пока, к сожалению, я не понимаю что происходит.
Да, скажи пожалуйста, что за роутер.
