Всё это специфично к версиям и конкрентным сборкам (включая пачти
дистрибутивостроителей) ядра, иксы и драйверам видеокарты, а
соответственно и модели самой видеокарты...
Проще говоря, это зависит от дистрибутива и железа. И тут всё довольно
далеко от идеального и даже приемлемого. Не зря Кармак отказался от
строительства нового движка под Linux...
