Была у меня такая трабла. Правда с альтовским дистрибутивом.
Мучился, пока не скачал с NVidia исходники для модулей.
Есть два варианта: можно скомпилять в однопользовательском режиме (если у тебя
по умолчанию сразу иксы грузятся), а можно за 5 минут которые даются на
раздумье.
Если хочешь, зашлю мылом. Вся эта музыка весит около 5 метров (тащить с сайта
NVidia тяжеловато - отваливается часто)
