Ничего создавать не нужно, escputil необходимо просто указать существуещее
устройство (не обязательно что-то вроде /dev/raw/rawN). В моем случае
команда для того, чтобы увидеть уровень чернил выглядит как:
escputil --ink-level --raw-device /dev/usb/lp0
о чем, кстати, очень даже отчетливо упоминается в escputil --help.
P.S.: Изначально я пытался наблюдать за уровнем чернил используя kprinter,
но это мне так и не удалось :-( поскольку uri типа usb://epson/Stylus C65
не переваривается escuptil, а если я указывал uri /dev/usb/lp0 принтер
отказывался печатать... Решение я нашел в виде монитора уровня чернил для
karamba и остался очень доволен.
