хм, дело в том что PATA резак в данный момент mainstream, а SATA
экзотика и ни один производитель чипсетов, кроме обнаглевшей интел,
поддержку PATA ещё не урезал и вроде не собирается, так что я думаю
полная смерть PATA ещё ой как не скоро. Да и про поддержку таких
девайсов в линухе пока вроде никто положительно не ответил.
