Я резал корень, а остальное уже с установленной системы.

Да, в инсталятор centaurus его бы и впрямь стоило положить.
Хотя эээ... там ещё udev rules в пакете (который полметра,
сам /sbin/mdadm 300k, можно было бы добавить). Без тестирования
на уже существующих до установки массивах может вылезти боком.
Интересно, насколько реально доработать alterator-vm...
