Есть такая игрушка, использовалась для синхронизации с Palm.
Требует установленного пакета irda-utils. Работала как под 2.4,
так и под 2.6 без особых проблем.
В /etc/sysconfig/irda прописана как:
IRDA=yes
DEVICE=/dev/ttyS0
DONGLE=tekram
DISCOVERY=yes
Для 2.6 в /etc/modules.conf добавляется:
alias tty-ldisc-11 irtty-sir
alias char-major-161 ircomm-tty
alias irda-dongle-0 tekram-sir
alias char-major-10-187 irnet
В 2.4 модули называется просто tekram и irtty вместо terkam-sir и irtty-sir
соответственно.
Далее запускается сервис irda или порт цепляется руками через
irattach /dev/ttyS0 -d tekram -s
