Я же говорил - виснет намертво, т.е. возможности переключиться на
консоль с логами и пр. нет возможности.
В общем вопрос снят, кроме матери поменялась еще и мышь, на
USB-шную... Воткнул PS/2 - все пошло, при выборе мыши указал свою
USB-шную, и дальше уже продолжил работать с ней.
