Вообще скажу, что еще год назад наш java репозиторий был основан на
JPackage. Сейчас еще больше половины пакетов на базе JPackage,
но доля пакетов, импортированных из Федоры увеличивается.
JPackage тухнет и идет в нишевый проект, в то время как в Федоре
сейчас большое движение в правильном направлении, начать хотя бы
с переезда на maven3.
У нас переезд на maven3 занял год напряженной работы.
Сейчас все еще идет обновление; пакеты ломаются много и часто;
Чинить приходится вручную; не все еще работает как надо,
включая maven-one-plugin, из-за чего приходится сопровождать
протухший maven1, и корректную расстановку и прописывание
OSGi манифестов, из-за чего maven-eclipse-plugin не работает
как надо и нечем будет собирать eclipse 4.2.1.
Проблема избыточных зависимостей тоже есть; есть и ее решение;
но, чтобы его осуществить на практике, нужен и обновившийся java
репозиторий в добром здравии, и значительная инвестиция времени
в инструменты сопровождения. Для этого нужно существенные время и усилия.
Собрать пакеты еще можно; но сопровождать пакеты уже сложно.
По щучьему велению этот процесс не ускорится.
