Действительно, в следующей редакции будет написано примерно следующее:
Исходники и патчи надо паковать bzip2'ом, если размер получаемых
.bz2-файлов меньше, чем размер аналогичных .gz-файлов (это легко проверить
с помощью утилиты zme). В противном случае паковать не надо.
Извиняюсь за задержку, долгое время был в вынужденном offline.
