Начиная с Mandrake RE Spring 2001 и до Compact 3.0rc10 всегда
работало... Может я что-то не так делаю? Переодически приходилось
скакать с oss на alsa или даже Commercial OSS, в зависимости от
звукового чипа на каждой конкретной машини и специфических багов,
появляющихся и исчезающих в различных драйверах...

После 1.29 я вообще проблем со звуком не припомню...
