Еще как целесообразно. ;-) Если (как у меня) рабочие станции --
P166MMX/32RAM. Ну и как тут кино смотреть? Зато сервер --
PIII/533/256RAM. Mplayer нормально играет через сеть, звук --
через esd.
Злостный Offtopic:
Два года пишу служебные записки об апгрейде машинного парка
(добить память хотя бы до 64 плюс винты), все без толку. Зато
как новую машину секретаршам -- деньги есть, да еще
исключительно бренды от HP брать. Видите ли, у них на том, на
чем сейчас работают (PII-300 тоже бренд) офис2000 тормозит, а
"не бренд" может испортить лицо "солидной организации".
Тут у коллеги PS/2 порты на машине накрылись. Начальство:
"денег нет, пусть пока на бумаге ручкой пишет". Хорошо хоть на
материнке USB порты были и клавиатуру USB нашли за свои деньги
(она -- 20 уе, материнка для первого пентиума -- 50, да еще фиг
найдешь). Вот так и живем.
