У меня та же проблема. Железо: AMD K6-II 450 разогнан до 500-го, мать
FIC PA-2013, видео S3 Savage 4 16Mb, после того, как поставил Nvidia
Riva TNT 2 M64 проблема не исчезла. ALM2.2, Mplayer собран из сырцов,
которые шли в дистрибутиве.
Интересно то, что проблема наблюдается, когда запускаю mplayer из
консоли либо gmplayer под иксами. Работаю под Gnome2. Когда запускаю
mplayer под иксами всё нормально. Если правильно помню, то проблема
была и в Junior 2.0 на этом же железе, но дело было давно, могу и
соврать. В XFree86.conf ничего не менял. (что и как само нашлось и
сконфигурилось кудзой, так и осталось.)
