Нет. Но в любом случае это неважно, потому что от темы значков не
зависит. Файлы с нужными картинками во всех темах есть. XFCE или Thunar
или кто там за это отвечает просто не хотят рисовать значки.

При создании файла на долю секунды появляется значок. Потом исчезает.
Это можно было бы списать на факт, что создается просто пустой файл,
который, конечно же, не является документом офиса, хотя имеет
расширение. Но для пустых файлов тоже есть значок, и он работает.
Открыл файл, добавил содержимого, сохранил -- все равно пустое место.
Сохранил как docx -- все нормально.
P.S. Кстати, поведение функции "создать новый документ", когда просто
создается пустой файл -- это сам по себе баг, ибо пользователь ожидает,
что новый документ будет создан в соответствующей программе.
