Убрал я эти опции:
PPPPERSIST=on
PPPMAXFAIL=0
из /etc/net/ifaces/ppp0/options.
Интерфейс нормально поднимается и ложится, даже ругань в логе не изменилась.
Но я- вполне себе "частный случай", тем более что с проводов "пылинки сдуваю".
:-)
Который провод оборвать?
